"If you want to throw THE HAMMER for your country, you have to stay inside the circle all the time!" - Miss Trunchbull, Matilda the Musical
Thanks for listening to Mystery, Science, Marshall! This week our topic is musical theatre in a new segment called Backstage Banter! Marshall is joined by his good high school friend Sydney Ziemer. The two have acted in shows together.
Sydney and Marshall begin their fun discussion by reviewing and sharing stories from the two musicals they acted together in: "The Addams Family" and "Matilda: the Musical." Both shows were performed at the Sheldon Theatre in downtown Red Wing, Minnesota, an historic place riddled memories and ghost stories.
The second half of the show consists of Sydney and Marshall talking about some of their favorite and least favorite musical, including The Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, Cats (and its biblical storytelling), Love Never Dies, Little Shop of Horrors, Beetlejuice, Dear Evan Hanson, and Hadestown!
Musical numbers played in this podcast episode belong to their respective owners and are used under Fair Use. The ending song is "When I Grow Up" from "Matilda: The Musical" Broadway cast recording.
We're so excited that you've chosen to listen to this podcast! New episodes will be released each week on Friday afternoons.
