Opposition grows more calculated as Jerusalem's wall nears completion. Nehemiah rejects a diversion, answers public slander with truth and prayer, and refuses a false prophet's plan that would lead him into sin. The finished wall shows the surrounding nations that God helped His people. Jesus is the true kingdom builder. He endured temptation, sinful opposition and the cross, so His people can keep their eyes on Him without losing heart.

Jerusalem’s wall was rising, but wealthy Jews were pushing poorer families into debt and slavery through interest God had forbidden. A strong wall could not heal that fracture. Nehemiah confronted the wrong, and genuine repentance moved beyond guilt to changed conduct and returning what had been taken. Jesus is the cornerstone who rebuilds crooked lives. His sacrifice makes sinners acceptable to God, while His grace enables them to repair harm and live differently.

Jerusalem’s wall builders face ridicule and threats as their work advances. God’s work may meet opposition from outside or through fear and division within, though not every disagreement is Satan’s work. Nehemiah leads the people to pray, stay alert and keep building, remembering the great and awesome Lord who fights for them. Christians still resist sin, Satan and the world, but victory does not hang on their strength. Jesus is already crowned King, and His victory at the cross gives courage to endure and serve.

Jerusalem's wall rose because families and workers repaired the sections before them, sharing one clear purpose. The work was a team effort. Their teamwork pictures how God's kingdom grows through His people. Jesus gives His church a common mission: make disciples, teach His commands and baptise them, beginning with those nearest at home. Every Christian has a part, including work beyond personal strengths or without recognition, and God's mercy turns such service into joyful worship.

Starting hard work is harder than knowing something must change. Nehemiah quietly inspects Jerusalem’s ruined walls, counts the cost, and then invites the people to rebuild. He names their danger but gives them courage by recalling God’s gracious hand and the king’s support. God’s work may face opposition, yet conviction never makes anyone a law unto themselves. God determines success; His servants obey, listen to godly counsel, trust Jesus for forgiveness, and depend on His Spirit for guidance.

Easter offers more than a moral example of compassion in an evil world; it offers hope grounded in Jesus' bodily resurrection. Thomas doubts until the risen Jesus shows him His wounded hands and side, leading Thomas to confess Him as Lord and God. His resurrection makes the future personal, certain, and wonderfully restored for those who trust Him. Jesus gave His perfect life for sinners, and His resurrection proves that His saving work is finished. The fitting response is to trust Him as Lord and God.

Nehemiah faces an impossible barrier: the Persian king has already forbidden Jerusalem’s wall to be rebuilt. He prays, waits four months, and plans patiently until God turns the king’s heart and provides permission, protection, and timber. Jesus endured the rejection sinners deserved, so they can approach God confidently and trust His wiser, generous love.

Great need can harden the heart or provoke hasty action. When Nehemiah hears that Jerusalem’s walls remain broken, he mourns, fasts and takes the city’s danger and poverty to God in prayer. Job titles, family ties and achievements cannot answer the deepest question of identity. God says humanity is fallen in Adam, guilty of sin and unable to make itself right with Him.
