  • Divine Direction with David Paul Mckinzie

Host Hollis proudly welcomes David Paul Mickinzie to the Open That Door podcast!

David is a successful media and entertainment entrepreneur, a host, a branding expert, a former college football player, has been featured on NBC, Good Morning America and CBS, interviewed mega-influentials like Mark Cuban, Charles Barkley and other notables, a spokesman for the PGA, NBA and NFL, and (fun fact) was one of only three black children featured on the kid's show Barney and Friends in the early 2000s.

Needless to say, David is a man of many talents who wears many hats. But what stands out about David the most, and allows him to be successful at his many endeavors, is his unyielding spirit and deep, disciplined faith.

David overflows with GOOD ENERGY. I felt it the moment I met him. He says that aligning daily with divine guidance is key to what is clearly his deep connection to life itself.

In a world where we can choose cynicism, fear, judgement, envy and hate over purpose, passion, love, joy, alignment and being divinely led, the choice seems obvious. But it takes practice and conditioning to lean into and trust that quiet voice that leads us to our light over the din of our noisy world.

Yet, there is enough room for all of our love and light! Yours and mine! David embodies this truth.

  • Trust What Calls To You

Hello OTD friends! I've started a new mini-series within the Open That Door Podcast called LOVE NOTES that will come out every week usually on Mondays or sometimes Tuesdays (us feminine-led leave a little room for flexibility while staying rooted in our commitments).

LOVE NOTE #1: Trust What Calls To You is your invitation and permission to show up as you really are in the world, full of shadows, yes, and also full of LIGHT.

What if, in our habitual ways of trying to keep ourselves safe and protected, we are dismissing the whole reason why we're here in the first place—to BECOME the extraordinary-ness within in us that we accidentally keep whittling down to ordinariness?

What if your greatest fantasy or loftiest vision could actually become your reality? That nudge in you that seems audacious or even irresponsible... what if THAT IS the life you are supposed to be leading and creating? What if all it took was giving yourself permission?

It takes an extraordinary leap of faith to trust that a fantasy (or dream or deep desire or inspired idea) can become a reality. But when you know that nothing that comes to you organically is bigger than you are capable of, you start trusting that there has to be a way for it to move through you into substance and being.

And the fact that you have an inspired tug in the first place is PROOF that there is a means to bring into the world that which starts in you as an idea. It's all energy, as Dr. Joe Dispenza says.

Trust what calls to you and know that you are the perfect match to bring it forth.

  • You Are Your Ticket with Guest Kristin Reitter

Host Hollis welcomes sound healer, astrologer, and bonafide Goddess Kristin Reitter to the Open That Door podcast to talk about ASCENSION! Buckle up, let your hair down, and get ready to RISE, friends!

Kristin has been studying and teaching astrology for decades and practicing sound healing since 2003, and says that we—humanity—is ripe and more than ready to transcend the old ways that no longer fit who we are and welcome in the new. In her melodic, empowered and playful way, Kristin reminds us that we don't yet know how powerful we actually are because we've been giving our empowerment away.

Now that things beyond our control are SHIFTING at a rapid pace, our job is to take responsibility for our part in the old, forgive, forgive, forgive all that is in the way, and open up to a peace, power and purpose that is calling each of us to embody.

Love, light and compassion will lead the way, so get your heart activated with the SIMPLE DAILY PRACTICE of putting both hands on your heart and taking five meaningful breaths.

This one simple exercise will move mountains, and open you up to more joy, fulfillment and meaning than you've ever experienced.

Learn more and book a sound bath and a reading with Kristin at www.kristinreitter.com, and check out her live show on social via ReStream, Who Are You, @KristinReitter10.

    Let's ascend, loves! ;)

  • Count Your Daily Victories

Host Hollis keeps it short and sweet this week, and invites you to count your daily victories.

What if, instead of focusing on everything that is not going the way we want it to, or all the ways we are falling short, we instead turn our focus this week on everything that works, is going well, and meets or exceeds our expectations?

What might the next 7 days be like with a microscope held up to our everyday victories?

Make a point to make note each time you experience a victory, big or small, every day this week. Make sure to keep your eyes open for the wins to counter our tendency to gravitate toward the fails. And if you can't get past a mess-up this week, find something to celebrate inside of it, even if it's minuscule.

The more we focus on what work in our lives, the more that works in our lives. It's as simple as that.

    What we focus on grows.

Happy celebrating your daily wins this week, sweet listener! You got this. XO

  • The 2.0 Version of You with Guest Laura Anderson

Hollis welcomes guest Laura Anderson to the show to discuss how we can overcome what is on our way to becoming the 2.0 version of ourselves.

By the time we turn 18, the average person from the average family has heard some form of "no" 148,000 times! It's no wonder that when we start adulting, we are so often mired in a disconnect from what we secretly desire but don't allow ourselves to go after or call in. Or, we may not even know what we want because we've already told ourselves it's a no and so it's too painful to open our hearts to what we desire in the first place.

Laura is a certified Confidence Coach and inside her practice Live and Thrive 365, she helps individuals identify what limiting beliefs are holding them back. And not just the obvious ones, like when we criticize ourselves through negative self-talk, but also our systemic limiting beliefs that we've mis-taken as the truth about ourselves or about life, such as I could never afford that lifestyle, or I could never take that kind of risk, that are now in our way to becoming the next-level version of ourselves.

Confidence, according to Laura, is a daily practice. It is rarely if ever just a given for most of us, but rather is built day by day, action by action, new empowering belief by new empowering belief. Which means that all of us—even if we don't feel it now—can grow into confident people who know they are capable and worthy.

Today is the day to start building your confidence, one baby step at a time, baby! The 2.0 version of yourself is waiting!

  • Give Your Inadequacies the Week Off

Friends and especially WOMEN and the feminine-led, this episode is for you.

It's time to give yourself permission to take up the space that belongs to you and replace your perceived inadequacies with the KNOWING that you are indeed enough and more than adequate to be the unique divine expression that you are here to be.

If you are one that is heart-led, and know that your head is your servant, even if that rational brain takes over again and again, this episode is your invitation to let that voice in you that tells you you are not enough take the week off.

Your inherent worth and good and gold is present and ready to take the lead in your life. When you begin to look for proof that you are indeed more than adequate and that you and your life work in so many resounding and wonderful ways, you start dispelling the mistruth that you need to be someone other than who you are to be happy, fulfilled, worthy, accepted, and good enough.

The world is ready for more light and YOU just happen to be the person that contains it!

Be the lightworker that you've come here to be. Stop finding reasons to be small and start to breathe into all that you are.

Shine that light, my beautiful one. You are so much more than you give yourself credit for.

  • Get Out of Our Own Way with Diane Altomare

Want to learn how to get out of your own way and make room for more joy, confidence, freedom, purpose and impact?

Host Hollis welcomes special guest Diane Altomare to the Open That Door podcast this week to help guide us through the exact process for opening the door to our greater selves, our greater capacity, and our greatest fulfillment.

Diane is a Master Certified Integrative Life Coach, regular featured expert on NBC and ABC, motivational speaker, a mother, wife, and best-selling and award-winning author of the book Clarity.

Her latest book is called More Than Enough, and inside the pages Diane pours all her wisdom she's gleaned over her nearly 25-year coaching career, working with everyone from celebrities and the uber-rich, to CEOs and managers, to stay-at-home parents and students, into uncovering the one common characteristic ALL of us struggle with—and that is the belief that we are simply not enough.

In More Than Enough and in this totally uplifting and hope-filled conversation, Diane shares her journey in learning how to heal her not-good-enough self and reconnecting with that part of herself—and the part we all have access to—that knows that we are More Than Enough.

The first step in any healing and empowered journey is gaining awareness, and Diane helps us make the distinction that just because I feel less than enough and can find plenty of proof to back up that belief, doesn't mean that that is who I am. When we see that we are run by beliefs of insecurity, self-doubt, fear, and anxiety based on the messaging we received growing up, and realize that this way of coping is not our fault, we begin to start reconnecting with our deeper self which is always unscathed, always whole, and always More Than Enough.

I had so much fun in this conversation with Diane, and I know the gems you will glean from this 50-minute exploration can be the catalyst for you to truly begin to change your life. I'm living proof.

Join us and let Diane and I know in the comments what tokens you take away that you know will make all the difference in you opening that door to a life and livelihood you love.

Diane has many free meditations and resources available for you on her website at https://dianealtomare.com.

You can find a link to purchase her book More Than Enough on her website, and she will send you a signed copy of Clarity as a bonus.

  • Trading Up Comfort for Happiness

Comfort is a natural quality we're all drawn to as humans... but what happens when our habitual habit patterns and limiting beliefs keep us in a state of comfort at the expense of our lasting happiness?

Host Hollis of the Open That Door podcast shares her 3-step process for initiating and creating lasting change in our lives in a safe, respectful, and even celebratory way.

This change process takes you gently into your resistance so that you can make friends with your fear and pay homage to what keeps you stuck—in a way that respects and safely releases those constrictions, making room for a new shift in your core identity.

What has brought us to today has served us powerfully, so let's give thanks first for who and how we've been, and then release what's no longer working for us as we grow into our higher selves.

The transformation process comes with some initial discomfort, but it doesn't have to be painful—it can be joyous and well-managed by YOU. You are enough to handle the emotions that come up when you activate change inside yourself.

Those tougher emotions are supposed to be there—and in fact, are what tell you you are on the right track.

More of what you want in life is available when you are willing to trade up comfort for lasting happiness. You deserve it—and you are big enough for more.

  • Turn Insecurity Into Your Superpower

Host Hollis shares how, when we uncover what's really at the core of us, beneath the layers of protection mechanisms and shields we hide behind to try to save face in the world, life does a 180 into true liberation.

What's at your core? For Hollis growing up, it was deep fear and insecurity. In her quest to pretend that she didn't feel like an outsider, maybe like you, she pretended her way through most of her life... until she was finally willing to let it all go in exchange for her true authenticity and power.

When you embrace the softer side of yourself, the truth beneath the shields, a world of color and power and opportunity and possibility opens up for you. Your energy goes from self-protection to self-expression, and you make room for a new identity in you to emerge that can support you in living the lifestyle of your dreams.

Transformation is the power that we enact when we begin to take action based on the new identity we are willing to assume when we let down our guard, disconnect from limiting beliefs, get real with ourselves, and take full responsibility for our lives.

  • What's Between You and Change

On the Open That Door podcast this week, host Hollis talks about a missing step in achieving real and lasting change. When we decide we really do want to transform an area of our lives or tackle a previously out-of-reach goal, what is required of us is to become anew. It's in this process of having to release an old way of being or our grasp on old beliefs that we might experience a sense of self-betrayal (or familial betrayal) — to the person you have had to be to maintain the status quo in your life.

And sometimes that sense of betrayal comes with a feeling of loss and grief. Or anger, or sadness, or fear (which could just be excitement without breath behind it). These are real feelings that deserve space to be felt and acknowledged on the way to lasting change.

Any time we step up to a new challenge, we first have to let go of our current standing... literally and figuratively. Putting change into motion always requires that we take a step forward in a new direction, and continue that momentum. This act of change can disrupt old agreements we have inside of us, often unspoken and unacknowledged, about how life is "supposed to be" — even when our old ways are preventing us from living fully into our power and joy.

And yet, through the grief, the loss of what was, of that part of you that you identified with that no longer fits, is the pathway and the doorway through which a life of meaning and substance and fulfillment awaits you.

Open that door to a life and livelihood you love, my friend. Come back to life.
