Welcome back to Open the Voice Gate - Rewind and Rewatch, where Case (https://twitter.com/_inyourcase) and Mike (https://twitter.com/fujiiheya) are Rewinding and Rewatching the Dragon Gate USA era of shows.
The final weekend for DGUSA’s 2011 stops by the former ECW Arena for Bushido 2011: Code of the Warrior on 11/12/2011 in Philadelphia! It’s DGUSA’s final show both at the Asylum Arena and in Philadelphia with two big title matches to send off their time in the most famous indie wrestling arena in the western hemisphere!
There’s a ton of interesting events that play into DGUSA’s 2011 finale weekend, so Case and Mike dip into the timeline to talk about the true beginning of Peak PWG, AAW shows, the Jeff Peterson Cup 2011, taping of the infamous Wrestling Retribution Project, a check into see some old friends in FCW, an uniquely insane Teddy Hart interview. CZW and Chikara had a lot of influence in how this weekend turned out for DGUSA, so they talk about their big shows as well.
YAMATO defending the Open the Freedom Gate championship against Chuck Taylor in a match that will affect the remainder of DGUSA and D.U.F’s challenge of the Open the United Gate champions Spiked Mohicans are the double main event for DGUSA’s farewell to the arena. As well, Bushido features a Case favorite of PAC vs Brodie Lee, Rich Swann vs Akira Tozawa and the perplexing usage of Sabu continues as he faces Pinkie Sanchez in a Street Fight!
