Open your eyes

Listen Later

Open your eyes

Triggers pop, images race through your mind; no one would

believe how life could be so unkind

It was a bad one, too vivid a nightmare; having a good day

then the past gives me a good scare

He tells me to trust him, I’ve heard that before; but I’ve

had a little, all I know is I want me some more

A day is two weeks, she hides and silently cries; enough

suffering yesterday, time to open your eyes

Forty plus years leave a mark on your soul; so close to the

finish line, scared to try to score a goal

Happy endings, they exist in fairy tales; every other time she

rode that train it went off of the rails

Was it the engineer, or was it just a bad design? Every time

I felt things were right I’d wind up cryin’

Winners don’t quit because of a few failed tries; it’s time

to go with a new day and open your eyes

Cause walking around with your eyes closed; will never go

the way that you had originally supposed

You miss the things in life that are so astounding, plowing ahead

with no sense where you’re bounding

Banging off of who knows what, you scream in pain; why pass

up sunny skies to cry alone in the rain?

Those things aren’t you, no you’re far too wise; to see where

you’re headed baby open your eyes

Tell me what’s the first thing that you see? You know who

will be standing there? Baby it’s me!

Wrapped around you like a blanket when it’s cold; laughing

and snuggling together as we grow old

Building dreams and bringing fantasies to fruition; this is

the only way to improve your condition

Forget the problems you endured, heartaches and lies; enjoy

my love simple and true, open your eyes
