  • OCLF - 2019 | Wildlife Conservationist a Dying Breed- Mr. Bittu Sehgal in conversation with Adv. Kartik Shukul

Human is nothing but an animal. When child popped out mother’s womb it is animal. Only Genes have been slightly manipulated, but it is animal. Every cultural aspect in the world is inspired by nature. Not to go far long, in our Vedas, Nature is worshiped as it feeds and nurtures us. It might be due to fear or love but it did. Ancient people left Natural imprints through paintings and poetries. That’s the origin of literature. Everything is inspired by nature. If nature is destroyed, there will be no literature. Politian urges us to protect nature that’s why we are doing it. But children must start thinking independently and act accordingly. We don’t have to be collaborator. We must raise an alarm when Nature is in danger. Good Literature always comes out at the best time or the worst time and when not when same things happening every day. Social media is a beast and people try to control it. If anybody tries to curb social media, they are going to fail. We must live life in such a way that people shouldn’t believe in lie spread about us. Nature is self-repairing as our cuts get heal by time. We must give time to Nature to rejuvenate to take its actual shape. We must do what we enjoy.

  • OCLF - 2019 | How to bridge the gap between you and your parents?

Collaboration is very important between parents and children. They both need to be participative and look for good mantra of communication. They must understand the importance of space holding of each other’s. They must engage in descriptive communication. Parent-child communication is a complex blend of non-verbal emotional signals, words, and behavior. Patterns of communication are set even before a child can produce words himself or herself. For example, when a mother says “All done, baby’s all done,” she alternates between high and low tones that help the baby’s brain begin to hear each word and sound as separate. Later, the baby will begin to understand that the separate sounds have separate meanings. At that point, parent and child are communicating in-sync, with a rhythm that builds both the child’s language skills and the emotional bond between them. So what suddenly happens once the language learning job is done? Why does this beautiful language synchronicity from early childhood suddenly turn into an awkward tango,s with each person stepping repeatedly on the other person’s toes? At a certain point in our children’s development, we begin to emphasize our jobs as “socializers” and under-emphasize the emotional tone in our communication. The topic of conversations begins to revolve around the behaviors we want our children to show on their own. Parent must acquire way of cool talking and shouldn’t be judgmental.

  • OCLF - 2019 | Teachers - Pedagogy for 21st century India By Pawan Sinha

India is changing along with the world. These changes are good; some are bad some are worst. It’s quite un-understandable. Nobody knows what exactly the parameters of these changes are. Everybody said about making education of global standard but nobody can explain what exactly the global standard is. By them, as there are expensive dresses, tables, homes, cars just like expensive education will be of Global standard which is a lie. We have our own narrative. We are backward in that sense as we must know what our area of expertise is. In our country parents expectation are too high and is out of context. Nobody cares to agitate for Educational Reforms and perfect pedagogy neither there is any debate extensively. We have a global standard mindset but we lack values that can’t be taught. Many people think that they know everything already and that’s the problem. Every youth, these days wants instant success without going through practice or procedure an only success. The teacher needs to teach this to students and must focus on human development. Human creation is all that help us to achieve success and standardization. We are in the age of a lot of tech information. Why we need institutional building if we can learn only by technology? Tech only gives information, not knowledge. That information lacks emotion and sentiment. Tech must be used but for conclusive growth of Human Being.

  • OCLF - 2019 | Teachers - Pedagogy for 21st century India. By Dr. Rajan Welukar (Ex VC Mumbai University)

I’m odd man out as I’m not a literary man. I’m more interested in statistics. I can explain all this occasion in terms of numbers. I think the literature is imitation of human action. We can restructure human lives with literature while conveying certain messages. Here, we have provided an open dais for reflection of literature. The objective of this literature fest is to celebrate written words, promote Nagpur as a cultural center. We will get chance to meet literary giants.

We follow policy of inclusion to integrate and educate about the literature of world. Here on dais we have Babasaheb Purandare who embellished Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s character, unparalleled. Nitish Bhardvaj’s portrayal of Krishna won heart of millions of Indian. Senior journalist Prabhu Chavla ji also graced this occasion. I, though, haven’t wrote books but I have complied 3 books of which one “Gandhi @ 150” will be inaugurated here by dignitaries.

  • OCLF - 2019 | Chanakya Neeti - strategies for success in personal and professional lives by Mr. RADHAKRISHNAN PILLAI

It’s important to understand what MBA actually is. Before independence our countries was conglomeration of small states reining their independent states but under one Bharat. There were different Kings-queens who fought for independence. When British left, Sardar Patel united India by assimilating those states. We had many internal problems at the time of independence. We were left poor without much money and low education. Our country was a pool of talent but faced many issues without lack of education.

We were underdog who need push to show its power. It was the time we need to get one way positive. When time comes you need to perform. How many people could speak English but only speak and do nothing. We wear country of 33 crore people and baby boomers. No much food no clothes in 1947. So our policy maker thought about making our education concrete enough to support our system. Every new discovery was happening in the west at that time of independence..

Without wasting much time policy maker put forward strong education policy to make country worthy. They put learning science Math and other important subject as fundamental rights. Everybody focus on being doctor and engineers by going in IIT and AIMS but at somewhere we need to manage things that's why they thought about MBA. We required people to administer the businesses that are why we need MBA. A management graduate needs to be leader not only worker.

  • OCLF - 2019 | My Bonding with Kashmir By Sanjay Nahar

In childhood we were told by parents to look for good career. This generation is career oriented we wasn’t. We were filled with huge love for country and its people, inspired by Bhagat Singh. People never actually understand who Bhagat Singh was. In time where Punjab was burning we decided to go there and help people. We were stopped and told to go back and save our lives. But when one of our volunteer died while saving victim, around 20,000 people gathered for his funeral service. That was astonishing. That was a human factor which we needed to bring up. Our love for Nation shouldn’t be show of but true dedication. Negligence creates vacuum. By time, in 90s Kashmir started to burn due to exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.

For love of country we get there to help and meet people. We thought of burning Pakistani flag but an Army officer suggested us not doing anything stupid which they have to pay for. In Kargil War we decided to help civilian who were helping to Soldiers. Many Kashmiri were unaware of True India so we began Know India Group where we organize meeting of famous personalities with Orphan Kashmiri Children to make them feel close. Many indigenous Kashmiri people help against Militancy which is current biggest problem there. With the help of “Sarhad” an NGO, we are helping Kashmiri in bringing mainstream.

  • OCLF - 2019 | Elections in India: The First Hundred Years (1919-2019) and its prequel* By Priyadarshi Dutta

Parliamentary confrontation of Indians began when Raja Ram Mohan Roy succeeded in passing the Anti-Sati bill in British Parliament in 1832. Representation of Peoples Act is the core and base of electoral system in India, which began working from 1951. It mentions all rule and regulation of General and Assembly election. It’s interesting to know that demand of Electoral System came before the demand of Independence. When British representative were asked about having Indian representative in British Parliament, they rejected saying that Indians are polytheist, they can’t take oath in name of One True God which was mandatory in British Parliament. When British brought Representation Act in India they were afraid of using word Election as it would have put British Empire in danger in India. When British arranged for first election in 1920 not many were interested in fighting. But Motilal Nehru and Chittranjan Das founded “Swarajya” Party and they fought elections along with then Congress and Muslim League. But not all were allowed to vote. There was a stringent criterion for a voter which makes only 2% of population worthy for voting. There was no secret ballet then. Everybody knew who voted to whom. By time voting percentage increased. Election Commission came into existence a day before republic day. EVM were used first in 1982 as a pilot project. It took some time to get used on full scale. Our constituencies are locked with same number of representation, only geography changes not seats. This is a myth that just by being literate voting percentage increases. It doesn’t. India is a Model Democracy.

  • OCLF - 2019 | Aabid Surti - let's Talk about water

We were all taught that water is H2O, is it just that? Nothing else?

Teachers may not have answer. A Japanese thinker, photographer, Dr. Masaru Emoto had. I learnt from his book, “Hidden Messages in Water,” that water can feel, exactly the way you and I feel. Not only that, water can record spoken as well as written words also.

A drop of water became more precious than gold for me, because of my childhood years that were spent on the pavement. To get a bucket full of water from the common tap, my mother had to stand in the queue early in the morning and often she had to fight for her right. This childhood memory kept on haunting me whenever I saw a dripping tap.

Once while visiting my friend’s home I saw water tap was leaking, I told him to get it repaired but he didn’t. He said why I cared for few drop? I had no answer. How could I explain it to them? In a way, their problem too was genuine. It was a ghetto and plumber would have been expensive.

By working to save water, the pure love you get from door to door is indescribable. People are waiting to see an angel and to them, you are one, if you decide to take up this cause in your neighborhood. The foundation provides poster, sticker, pamphlet, Tee-shirt designs online. You just have to make minor changes in the pamphlet text. Where my cell No is, put yours, where my address is, put yours. And delete my name also to be replaced by your name. It’s your baby, not franchise from the foundation. The cause matters, not the name.

As you know, I’m giving only my Sunday mornings for this initiative. It’s so simple, so easy for anyone to do it. And that is what I want to convey to all, especially to senior citizens: Please come out of the self-imposed retirement cocoon; spend a couple of hours inspiring people to do good for the society and that will rejuvenate you also. The living example is in front of you. Just do it. If I can, you can.
