ORB: A Venture Bros. Podcast

Here we have one of the more unfortunate episodes of the Venture Bros., where the family heads to the rain forest and meets one of Rusty's old acquaintances. What ensues is some really weird, scattered, and icky sex and gender stuff that's also just not very funny!

Gwen Static joins us to talk about the disastrous results of Rusty trying to make a quick buck by inviting kids to the Venture Compound. The Venture Bros. takes place in a world where "boy adventurer" is a possible career path, and scores of kids are ready and willing to hand over money to attend a day camp run by their hero... even if those "kids" are Murderous Moppets helping their boss arch on the sly.

Jeremy Greer joins us to talk about the proper introduction of Sergeant Hatred and his unorthodox arching philosophy. He seems like a big dumb doofus, but there's more going on there, and he has a plan to make the Monarch's life hell by making Rusty's life heaven. And it all begins at one very lame house party.

How many of the events in the Venture Bros. trace back to a gameshow cheating scandal? More than you'd think! Season 3 continues its exploration of backstories and origins by explaining how Billy Quizboy and Pete White met, fell from grace, and inadvertently created the Phantom Limb.

This episode is a series highlight that reintroduces us to the core feature of the show's main character... Rusty Venture is a failure and he's not a good person. While that's dark, there's plenty of levity to be had when Dr. Killinger shows up to revamp the Venture compound by revealing not only who moved the cheese, but what color their parachute was.

The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend face a trial of sorts in this episode that sets a theme for Season 3... exploring their past as villains, henchmen, and second-in-commands. We get to see the Monarch's first attempts at arching Dr. Venture, and learn why he hates Phantom Limb so much... outside of all of the obvious reasons.

Season 2 of the Venture Bros. has drawn to a close, with the Monarch married to Dr. Wife (nee Dr. Girlfriend, et al) and having thwarted the usurpation of the Guild by Phantom Limb. We talk about the highs and lows of the season, the DVD special features, and we read your responses.

The finale for the finale shows us the aftermath of Phantom Limb's attack on the wedding between the Monarch and Doctor Girlfriend. Brock easily takes a commanding role among the henchmen... I mean, minions. Meanwhile Dean has dissociated and is wandering around an unrelated Neverending Story fantasy sequence that ultimately has disastrous consequences for the Cocoon.

Season 2 draws to a close as the henchmen drunkenly abduct the Ventures as a wedding gift for the Monarch, who is tying the knot with Dr. Girlfriend. But Phantom Limb has some objections.

Jinkies and or zoinks, it's groovy! This penultimate episode of the second season introduces us to the Groovy Gang, a parody of the cast of Scooby Doo that's all mixed up with famous killers and criminals from the counterculture. They stumble across the Venture Compound and hijinks ensue, while Rusty plays god and Brock has doubts about his path in life.
