You are accepted by God because He is a God of mercy.  God receives you with compassion and kindness that you do not deserve and doesn’t give you the consequences of your sin that you do deserve.  Mercy is a sign that you’re accepted and loved and not just when you’re at your best, but even when you’re at your worst.
