Baptism is something so important to us that we named our denomination after it. We have all seen more baptisms than we can count. But how much do we really understand about baptism? Why do we do it? Why do we do it the way we do it? Why don’t we do it the way other denominations do it? The answers to all of these questions are found in scripture for those who are willing to take some time to study and put the pieces together. We will answer these questions and many more about baptism.
Series Overview
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are two activities that are shared by many faith groups. Protestants, Roman Catholics, and Eastern Orthodoxy all agree on the importance of these elements. But that is where much of the agreement stops. As Baptists, we need to understand the answers to questions like what these actions symbolize, what power they have in my faith, and why we don’t call them sacraments. We believe that these ordinances were truly ordained by Christ. But there is so much more to learn about them. In this two-sermon mini-series on the ordinances, we will seek to answer all these questions and more.
