In this message, Pastor Mark covers the letters of intimidation sent to Hezekiah by the King of Assyria. Isaiah counters the word of the enemy with the word of the Lord. The Lord will protect Jerusalem.
Our spiritual enemy often uses words of discouragement and intimidation to keep God's people in fear and paralysis. While the enemy's lies are powerful, the word of the Lord is all powerful and His word will accomplish the very thing it's supposed to accomplish.

In the Bible, water is often symbolic of chaos. The creation narrative begins with the Spirit of God hovering over the "waters". From the chaos comes creation and order. This theme is found several times in scripture.
In this message, Pastor Mark walks through a few OT examples of God creating order from chaos and reminds us that no matter what chaos we may experience in life, we are part of God's story, and His story never ends in chaos.

Israel and Judah were unique. They were God’s special possession. Over time, both nations forfeited their uniqueness by worshipping other gods, breaking their covenant with Yahweh, and following the example of the surrounding nations. The apostle Peter writes in his first epistle, that the church is God’s special possession. The people of God are unique, and we must protect the uniqueness God has blessed us with.

In several Isaiah passages, the prophet speaks about the pride of Israel, Judah, Assyria, Babylon and the entire world. It’s clear…God hates pride.
In this episode, Pastor Mark shares 3 observations on why God hates pride. Pride keeps us from knowing Him. Pride is alignment with the enemy. And pride destroys relationships.

Isaiah chapter 8 concludes with darkness and despair. However, things change in chapter 9 when the prophet says that time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. “The land of Zebulun and Naphtali in Galilee will be filled with glory. The people who walk in darkness there will see a great light.”
In his gospel, Matthew records Jesus’ ministry in Galilee. Jesus begins his ministry, calls his disciples, and performs miracles in Galilee. Jesus enters the darkness and fills the land with God’s glory.

King Ahaz was a wicked king that reigned during the time of Isaiah. When Judah is threatened by Israel and Aram, God tells Ahaz not to worry. Instead of trusting God, Ahaz calls upon the King of Assyrian for help. Later, when Judah is threatened by Philistia & Edom, Ahaz relies again on the Assyrian King for help but this time the Assyrian King invades Judah instead of helping.
In this episode, Pastor Mark uses the story of Ahaz to teach about the importance of trusting God and taking Him at His word.
