Being an entrepreneur is tough, but finding a good coach can help you take your journey to the next level. In this episode, Naeemah chats with her sister Nadira Ford-Robbins, founder and CEO of Ford-Robbins Coaching & Consulting. They talk about the balance between being entrepreneurs and moms, and how Nadira's business helps her clients become more productive.
Nadira Ford-Robbins has been providing coaching services for nearly 15 years, working with students in the Post-Secondary and Higher Education field, as well as adults in the Non-Profit sector. In this work, she has continually empowered youth and adults to achieve their goals and dreams. She was previously employed as the Assistant Director in the Health Careers Resource Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) where she served over 2,500 Pre-Health students looking to go into career fields such as Medicine, Dental, Nursing, and more.
Prior to her role at UNO, Nadira worked as the Coordinator of Academic Success at Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) where she served as an Academic Success Coach, Disability Services Coordinator, and a supervisor for peer tutors and supplemental instruction leaders. Her tenure at NMC also included working as Project Coordinator for the Nebraska Methodist College Upward Bound program, where she mentored first-generation students toward access to higher education opportunities. For the past eight years, Nadira has worked part-time as the Burke High Drill Team Coach leading a team of 20-25 students. As a result of her work with the Burke High Drill Team, Nadira received the 2015 Burke High Community Leader Award, which was a special honor because she is an alumna of Burke High School and of the Burke Drill Team. In 2016, Nadira was the recipient of the Women of Color in Leadership Award for Mentoring given by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Omaha in recognition of her work with students. Nadira obtained her Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from the College of Saint Mary, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication with a Minor in Psychology from UNO as a Goodrich Scholar. She has also earned certificates in Grant Writing and Annual Giving from UNO, and in Life Coaching from Florida State University.
Passionate about women’s empowerment and women’s leadership, she also served as Adjunct Faculty in the Women’s and Gender Studies program at UNO, and is the founder of a life coaching business, Ford-Robbins Coaching, LLC. Nadira regularly serves as a three-fold coach (life coach, drill team coach, academic coach). She feels that she is truly called to coach people toward their innate greatness. Nadira serves her community through active membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (DST), and is an inaugural member of the Delta P.E.A.R.L. Leadership Cohort for DST’s Central Region. Nadira has four amazing kids and a Yorkie named Bella.
