When going to an anime con, one thing you're gonna need a lot of is money. Hotels, travel, food, registration, main event tickets -- they don't come cheap. Plus, you'll want to have some money left over to spend in the dealer's room, right? It's been over a month since Anime Expo 2014, and thanks to an extremely busy schedule that just didn't mesh up with the busy schedules of my fellow cohosts, I haven't been able to finish editing our mega recap episode of doom. At long last, we bring you our coverage of Anime Expo 2013. (Part 1 of 2)

Fortunately, this time the delay was not caused by a hard drive crash. (After last year’s fiasco I learned my lesson; this time I made about five different backups of all our AX files.) However due to some audio glitches, editing this turned out to be harder than usual. Also I’ve just been incredibly busy, back on a job that requires 3+ hour bus commutes, and haven’t had a good solid block of time when I could sit down and record and edit. And of course there was the week or so I was out thanks to good old Con Crud.

We managed to gas on for over 2 hours, so I’ll be turning this into a two-parter. In this first part we talk about our impressions of AX, what we saw and did, and what we liked (and didn’t like).

We didn’t get very many interviews at Anime Expo this year, and I had thought I lost the two that we did get in the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2012.
