From early success at Northampton to the Leeds City scandal and ban, then trophies at Huddersfield and a revolution at Arsenal after the 1925 offside change, Chapman helped invent the manager as architect: tactics, recruitment, training, club identity. FA Cup 1930, league titles, shirt numbers, floodlights, even a Tube station renamed “Arsenal.”
