With less than 60 days to go to the opening ceremony of the 2018 winter Paralympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, I interview a member of the team that won a gold medal at the 2014 Sochi paraympics for sled hockey, and of course I’m speaking of the one and only Rico Roman. 

Rico and I talk about his upbringing, military service, his rehab after losing his leg, training to be an adaptive athlete, his journey into becoming one of the best at sled hockey, his experiences at the 2014 Sochi Paralympics, and of course his thoughts going into PyeongChang to reclaim gold for team USA.

Rob and I talk about what kind of attitude is needed to win a medal at the highest level of competition at the Paralympics, the training needed to get there, and how his competitive spirit drove him to give back to his community by undertaking on a couple of unimaginable challenges that saw him ride his bike across the country, and most recently run 31 marathons in 31 days…  Yes that is correct, 31 marathons in 31 days.

In this episode I speak with Marc Mast, Marc is the director of the Wood River Ability Program in Sun Valley Idaho.  The Mission of The Wood River Ability Program is to promote physical and mental health for persons with disabilities through sports and recreation.  Marc and his program have helped many disabled people reach the top of competitive disabled sports and rehabilitation including me.  We talk about how he got started, what drives him to do it, and we reminisce how he helped me back in the day.

In this episode I speak with Chris Palmquist, Chris is one of the coaches for the US paratriathlon team that brought home 4 medals in the Rio Paralympics.  We find out how Chris fell in love with coaching, whats next for the sport of paratriathlon, and how someone can turn their lives around using sports.

In this episode I speak with BJ Ganem, BJ is a decorated war veteran, an advocate for disabled veterans, and a multiple disabled sports participant from dog sledding to rock climbing.  We find out how BJ went from a very dark place in his life after losing his leg to becoming an incredible, and selfless advocate for injured veterans.

In this episode I speak with Jon Lujan, a 2014 Sochi Paralympics alpine skier about his time in the military and the injuries he suffered during one of the bloodiest battles of the Iraq war, and how he did not let his situation become his prerogative by picking some skis and becoming one of the best at his sport.

In this episode I speak with Augusto Perez, a 3 time paralympian in the sports of Curling, Biathlon, and Nordic skiing about his tragic diagnose of cancer, his leg amputation, and how he turned a tragic series of events into an inspirational and selfless athletic career.
