The Story of David and Solomon | 2 Samuel 11-12:25, I Kings 1-2 

A messy story of hostility, redeemed by a peaceful God | David’s reign was marked by war and hostility. Not only was the warrior king battling against the enemies of Israel, but he also warred against the Lord. Both resulted in death and sadness. For this reason, David was not chosen to build the house of the Lord, but his son, Solomon, was chosen. As his name indicates, Solomon anticipates the coming of the Prince of Peace.
