Our Father's Heart episodes

  • Damaged Goods | Ep. 94

Whether we are young or old, we are all infected with this alien presence… it’s evil, and it’s not the devil. It’s sin. It’s infected all our conscious and visible aspects, body and mind. We are wholly not worthy! There is nothing in us that is valuable, we are corrupt, within ourselves there is this constant bickering, fighting, disagreement, second-guessing, uncertainty, and insecurity. Day by day, we are getting older, and nearer to death.

Bishop, elder, Dr., teacher, nurse, marketer, stay-at-home mom… we are all unworthy, damaged goods. Yet the paradox remains… we are still CHOSEN by Him who is WORTHY! YOU ARE NOT A MISTAKE and God’s choosing of you is NOT A MISTAKE!

He doesn’t choose us because of our inherent value. He chooses us because His purpose and will supersede our unworthiness. He chooses us because he knows by His foreknowledge that we are going to respond to His calling.

  • Inheritance - Possession | Ep. 93

This episode is an elaborate, more in-depth study of the word inheritance or inherit and how it is tied to the word "possession". We take a look at how it applies to the Levites of the Old Covenant and the Church in the New Covenant. We also consider how it applies to God and His own inheritance, and how it applies to the holy relationship of marriage.

  • The Wise Man and Wisdom | Ep. 91

Essential to being a wise man is teachability, correctability and humility. He is a life-long learner. A lone ranger he is not, because he understands and is humble enough to recognize that he does not know everything… he doesn’t see everything… he doesn’t hear everything… he doesn’t discern everything. Another distinguishing characteristic of his is that he has the reigns of his tongue and exhibits self-control. He accepts that wisdom is the principal thing and when he hears the Word, he does it.

  • Submit Yourselves | Ep. 89

This biblical lesson is on the principle of submission. Regardless of what we see in our experience, God is absolutely sovereign. Sometimes, it is difficult to swallow some scriptures on subjecting ourselves to governing authorities and so we address some of the following questions like:

    1. How do we conduct ourselves in relation to governing authorities?
    2. How is the principle applied, even when those we are submitting ourselves to are evil and wicked?
    3. What are the limiting principles, if any, to this principle?

We analyze how submitting ourselves to one another is applied in varying relationships of our life for the glory of God, borne not solely out of a fear of God, but more so out of our love for God.

  • Naomi - El Roi (The Lord Sees) | Ep. 88

This particular teaching comes from the well-known book of Ruth. However, in my humble opinion, the focus is really on Naomi, the mother-in-law of Ruth, and the ramifications of the decision Ruth made to remain with Naomi. Nevertheless, the poignant story of these two women is one of the few accounts of the scriptures that focuses on women and how the Lord Sees (El Roi) their bitter plight in life and shows Himself mighty and faithful to them when they show themselves faithful to Him and each other.

  • Topics for Young Adults part 8 (Temptation to Sin-Hope-Forgiveness) | Ep. 87

We close out our series by addressing how the removal of God from our lives continues to lead to increasing numbers of mental health issues. Also, rather than seeing the influence of the Church on the world, we are now seeing a greater degree of influence of the world on the Church because the world and many saints are succumbing to the seductress, the immoral woman who tempts all the world to sin. This harlot is leading countless souls to the deep pit of hell. We look at the examples of Samson, Joseph, and Lot on how to deal with this seductress, but we can't ignore and neglect that we are fallen and have the inherent propensity to sin.

Yet above all this, there is still hope, forgiveness, and blessing that is reserved for the man or woman who will repent and receive the sacrifice of Jesus as the offering for our sin. The person that will cry out to Him in humility for mercy and forgiveness, acknowledging his own sin and resting in His tender mercies and lovingkindness. This is for the man who will after all this, will present himself, his own members, as slaves of righteousness for holiness from now on, ever after.

  • Topics for Young Adults part 7 (Insecurities-Manifesting-Peer Pressure) | Ep. 86

We start to close out this series with the last 3 topics here. Insecurities come from comparisons, yet Wisdom says to us, "For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." Social media, for young people, can amplify our insecurities because of our immaturity. Peer pressure only adds to this burden. We also touch upon "manifesting" and its connection to new age, occult, and metaphysics that is outside of dependency on God, yet it tries to mix biblical principles with repeated actions on your part until you get what you want and it manifests.

  • Topics for Young Adults part 6 (Drinking-Smoking) | Ep. 85

As we continue talking about these topics, we come to the subject of smoking and drinking. For the Christian, we must keep in mind the following truth... our lives are not our own. We have been bought with a price we can never repay and our only reasonable service is to present ourselves daily to the Lord as a holy and acceptable living sacrifice.

The overarching principle of all these topics is the following scripture:

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. (1 Co4 3:16-17)
