Our Foundations Podcast

I apologize for the poor audio quality at the beginning but it gets much better 7 minutes into the talk. Kenton is from a local Mennonite community and talks about what it means to live outside the system and to live naturally. In addition to what it is, he discusses why he chooses to live this way as well as some of the challenges and rewards or doing so.

This is talk number two from Agora Fest 2023 in Chattanooga, TN. The topic is all about the Parallel Society approach- what it is, examples from history, the ideology behind it, how to apply it in your life, and more. In a sense, it's applied agorism / libertarianism.

To begin the study on the Sermon on the Mount, we'll start with the first of the Beatitudes, Blessed are the poor in spirit. In addition, I do an overview of the Beatitudes and pull from the similar account in Luke and other biblical parallels to shed more light on the various meanings and interpretations of these passages. As always, it also includes an assessment of how this verse and the principles behind it relate to our relationship with the state and government as an institution in general.

Welcome to the second half of Season 5. I am switching gears a bit and shifting into a more commentary approach with a focus on specific passages in scripture. Since most of the relevant sections of the Old Testament have been covered in the first half of Season 5, the bulk of this much longer second "half" will be from the New Testament. This begins with the teachings of Jesus, Yeshua, starting with the Temptations of Yeshua and going through the Sermon on the Mount.

Throughout the Bible, God uses nations and rulers for His purposes. He calls them His servants, His staff, and similar descriptions. Romans 13 says the ruling authorities are placed in their positions by God and carry out His purposes. These things are covered as we continue to dig into the relationship between the Christian and the state, God and governments, and the theology of obedience.

Daniel's story is another example of a Christian in government so it is the logical next place to stop. I get into that and compare with Joseph a bit more then get into Daniel's visions. I am not getting into eschatology but rather looking at the overall view of God's presentation of the kingdom of man vs Kingdom of God. I cover other verses dealing with this and the role of the Adversary and much more.
