Our role in the Church's Mission

Listen Later

As individual believers, how do each one of us fit into the overall plan of God for the Church in the world? In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus has commissioned the Church as a whole to go into the world and make disciples from all nations. One questions is; how does our church or fellowship fit into this overall plan? A second question is how each believer support or fit into their church or fellowship’s role? The first question is; have we become disciples ourselves? Are each one of us believers firstly? Unless we have trusted in Jesus for full forgiveness and reconciliation with the Father in Heaven, we cannot have a role in the Church’s mission. In other words, if we are not part of the Church, we cannot have a part in the Church’s mission. If we are believers, are we being discipled? Are we actively obedient to the all the commands that the Lord Jesus has given us? If we are true disciples of the Lord, what part do we play, actively, in making disciples of others? What is our spiritual gifting which is given for the building up of the Church? What is our fellowship doing to make disciples? The Church is given the power of the Holy Spirit to go in the Lord’s name. We cannot do it in our own strength, but we can in the Spirit’s strength. And we are not on our own. The Lord promises to be with us always, to the very end. (Matt 28:20)
