Our Stories FIU: Summer 2020

Today we are joined by another amazing Honors College student, Emily Silverio-Williams! On this episode we discuss Emily's artistic inclination and how it's helped her through her time during the pandemic, her experience using the disposable camera and not seeing the finished result, feeling a "lack of control" during the events of this summer, trying to convey her emotions through the images she was capturing, taking advantage of life's "accidents", and more!

We discuss her situation being stuck away from her family in Peru as an international student, how she found comfort in friendships with other international students from FIU, the way she reacted to the Trump Administration's notice regarding International Students from earlier this summer, seeing the world change around her during COVID-19, and MORE!

We discuss ending high school during COVID-19, missing those crucial coming-of-age moments like prom, how students like Lidia across the country coped with these losses, spending quiet afternoons walking around her neighborhood, and looking towards the start of her college journey at FIU.
