After thriving in our adolescence in our small Mormon-community, both Tanner and Risa continued down the path that was expected of them. Less than one month after graduating high school, Tanner set off to Central America to serve an incredibly impactful LDS mission in El Salvador and Belize. Risa finished her senior year of high school and then completed her freshman year of university at Utah State. The two of us wrote diligently during those two years and maintained our relationship along the way.
We talk about our different experiences during that time and how we quickly became engaged when Tanner returned from Belize in June 2015 and later married (at just 19 and 20 years) by mid December 2015. If you've lived or visited Utah, you probably already understand how common it is to have so many young couples being married in their late teens and early twenties! The first three years of marriage were spent cruising through classes and internships to complete our undergraduate degrees and lived in four different cities and three states up until graduation. Let's just say this was a sneak peak preview to how often we will be moving for the next seven years of our lives! Along the way, we were inspired by traveling back to Belize, experiencing our first summer vacation in Europe (Italy and Switzerland) and realizing we so badly wanted to have international experiences to be a part of our lives. During this time, we also formed our non-profit organization, NEEM (Nutrition Education Ending Malnutrition) and prepared for a two week volunteer trip during the summer of 2018.

Preview of Episode 4:At the end of my final internship and college courses, we took off to India to lead our humanitarian trip with 18 volunteers and so much excitement and hope to make an positive impact. Following the volunteer work, we spend the next five months traveling Southeast Asia and the Pacifica, growing and learning with every country and day spent being with each other and the many different cultures along the way. We're breaking down how much of an impact this would have on us moving forward along with some of our favorite memories and impressions!
