On today’s podcast, it is an honour to introduce you to the matriarch of my family, Stih7ay Sla7nay, where the river forks and splits, in Nehiyaw, Piyisew Iskwew, Prairie chicken thunderbird woman. Colonial name, Yvonne Wyss from the Khatsahlano family. Her names represents the blending of the Indigenous and the colonial worlds.
She is a leader, a storyteller, a visionary, an aunt and a mother. Yvonne today is completing her Bachelor of Native Studies with a minor in gender studies from the University of Alberta.
