Our Take: Old Elementary Schools, Downtown Chowdown, School Bus Cameras

Listen Later

Hey, this is the third episode, a milestone of sorts from three people who are trying to have a conversation about what's going on in Dubois County while attempting to run their businesses.
In this episode, we talk about what the Greater Jasper Consolidated School Corporation is going to do with the two elementary schools after the new elementary school opens next fall. If anyone is reading this, Curtis really would like a putt-putt course.
Somehow or other we come up with a jingle for the Downtown Chowdown -- a food truck festival happening in downtown Jasper one Wednesday a month from May to October. You gotta admit it's a fantastic name.
We also discuss the potential for all the school buses in Dubois County receiving stop-arm cameras. The corporations have come forward and said they want to place these cameras on every school bus in the county over the next three years. The state allows the school corporations to recoup the money spent on those cameras through the fines collected from violators.
Finally, we touch on the old gas station in Huntingburg that finally may be cleaned up. The city is going to seek a potential grant to purchase the property from CE Taylor but first, they are conducting an environmental survey to ensure it won't need any remediation as part of the process. Curtis thinks this would also be a great place for a putt-putt course.
