Welcome to the first episode of Our Take on This Week in Dubois County. This Week is simply three guys, Josh, Curtis and Matt, interested in talking about a couple stories and news items in Dubois County each week. Josh is the owner of Smalley Coffee and co-owner of Brew, Curtis owns Crowbird Creative and Matt is co-owner of the Dubois County Free Press.
This week we are talking about the Mid-States Corridor, Night to Shine and some developments on the jail expansion project.
The Mid-States Corridor is a new interstate-grade road that will cut through Dubois County. We don't know where yet; it's frustrating so we talk about some of what's going on and what to expect in the upcoming public meetings. Curtis and Matt both stand a chance of this road hitting properties they or their family’s own.
Night to Shine is a fantastic prom-like experience for folks with special needs put on by Redemption Christian Church through the Tim Tebow Foundation. We discuss some of our personal experiences at the special night as well as a Dubois County Herald story on a couple who attended the prom.
We are getting a new jail, an expanded community corrections and if they can swing the money, a new center housing the Dubois County Courts and all the other administrative needs that operate the county's justice system. However, the Dubois County Community Foundation sponsored a study showing some alternative options that might reduce the need for a really big jail.
That's it for this week, thanks for listening. Give us a follow on your podcast streamer of choice. Let us know on social if you have any other questions about those stories (or any other stories you think we should talk about). Finally, let us know what you liked, disliked, or whether it was perfect and we shouldn't change a thing.
