In today's episode I wanted to hear the friends I made here in Quepos talk about what it was like to move here and live here. In this episode Lauren and I discuss our experience taking a four week Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course in Costa Rica! We take the course through Maximo Nivel. They have four campuses, and we took our course at the Manuel Antonio location. So for one month we lived in the town of Quepos, attended school in Manuel Antonio with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean (see the Instagram), and learned how to teach English to speakers of other languages!
If you're considering taking a TEFL or ESL course, then this episode is for you! If you aren't familiar with TEFL or ESOL/ESL but may be interested in teaching, in living and working abroad either long term or for a gap year, give it a listen!
Check out the Instagram @andyaboutandabroad where I'll be sharing pic and videos from the school and our time taking this course. And also to see what I am up to currently as well as some travel humor stuff.

Dad, Jon and I discuss our trip to Glacier National Park, Bozeman Montana and a stop in Badlands National Park as we finish sharing our story about our 3- week western US road trip. We talk more about traveling by camper and finding places to stay, about what to see in Glacier and Badlands National Parks, and what we liked most about traveling in this way.
Dad and I continue our conversation that we started in Episode 6 about a cross country road trip we took in his camper! Episode 8 covers our time in Yellowstone National Park. Hear about well known attractions like Old Faithful, Morning Glory Pool, Grand Prismatic Spring but also tips on seeing less frequented attractions. Learn great places to view the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and how to feel like you're in Mars (by visiting the Norris Geyser basin). We also talk a bit about Cody, Wyoming, Buffalo Bill Cody and the Cody Night Rodeo.
In this episode my dad and I continue the conversation we started in Episode 6 but here we discuss our experience visiting the Grand Tetons via camper. We talk more about dispersed camping and how to find a site, hikes we took and would recommend, the town of Jackson Hole and the glory of waking up with the most magnificent view of the Tetons from our campsite. If you want info about this National Park, to hear more about free camping, or inspiration for a father-daughter road trip, tune in!
If you want to know more about my dad's camper setup or his first 7 weeks on the road, go back and listed to episode 6!

Today we are joined by my dad (Rory) who outfitted a 16-ft camper to travel with in his retirement. In this episode he reflects on his first 10-week camping trip and recounts what he loved about it most. He talks about his setup and ways he modified his tow-behind camper to fit his needs and the routines he had on the road. He shares about biking, fishing and exploring across the United States both alone and with a friend. If camper life (or camper retirement) appeals to you or you have questions about what it's like, then this is the episode for you!

Today we interview Jon about a trip that he and a friend took to Costa Rica. They flew into San Jose and then explored a chunk of the Pacific Coast from Jaco to Uvita. We get to hear about volcanoes, hot springs, and coffee around Arenal. Then we head to the coast for surf lessons in Jaco, ziplining, nighttime jungle hikes in Manuel Antonio National Park and many beaches. Jon's favorite day of the trip involved exploring some waterfalls and a coastal cave that's only accessible at low tide. Overall an exciting yet revitalizing week of Pura Vida. Listen in if you are planning or dreaming of traveling to Costa Rica!

Episode 4 takes place in the land of Belize on my first semi-solo trip in which I left home on my own to join up with a group tour by Intrepid Travels. This trip took us from Belize City to the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, then over to San Ignacio and finally out to Caye Caulker. We learned about Mayan history at Lamanai and Cahal Pech, and possibly my favorite adventure in the Actun Tunichil Muknal Caves. We enjoyed island life in the cayes and took a catamaran snorkeling tour on the mesoamerican barrier reef. I also went for a scuba diving trip on our free day. We ate classic belizian dishes and delicious fresh caught lobster. And we bonded as a group of strangers on an adventure together in a foreign place. You could say it was .... unBELIZEeable.
