I posted on Facebook earlier on Friday about how she had been in Hospice care for the past year battling Parkinson's Disease. For the past 3 weeks her health has been up and down. In the past few days her health has taken a turn for the worse. I have been informed that she can no longer swallow and she has been asperateing. I have been told that they expecting her to live another two week, if that. i'm sure you can understand that this is a difficult time for me but the folks at Wesley Life Hospice have given me some time to prepare for my sister's passing. Another part of this too is Pastor Jason for Wesley Life Hospice. He has been very helpful also and has given me ideas on how to conduct my sister's Celebration Of Life, when that happens.

Grinnell State Bank has been around for 100 years now and I had a chance to have a chat with Austin Jones who is Chairman Of The Board Of GSB. If you've lived in the Dallas area for the past 30 to 40 years you've no doubt heard the name Dale Hansen. Dale is a sports icon in the Dallas area having been on TV as a sports anchor on the CBS TV station first and then moving over the the ABC station for the past several years. But, Dale started out at KCOB in Newton and he gave me my start in radio. In this "best of" podcast Dale looks back on his days in Newton. He talks his time with the Newton Nite Hawks, how he got started with the huge party that he threw every year for charity and the idea for it that came from Newton's first Mayor and other thoughts from the past. This was one of my most listened to podcasts. So, with that in mind I thought that this podcast should be repeating. Unless he gets a huge amount of write in votes against him, Randy Ervin will become the next Mayor of Newton since he will be the only Mayoral candidate on the ballot. Randy has served on the Newton City Council for many years and now feels he is ready to step into the position of Mayor. The Newton Fire Department has a great program going on called called the Crisis K9 program. On this podcast I speak with Fire Marshall Jacob Halferty and Captain Ryan Volk about their Crisis Response Dogs Marshall and Kota.
