News broke late Friday afternoon that Luke Kuechly has been cleared to play on Sunday. After meeting with an independent doctor Friday afternoon Kuechly has been released from the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Our Tuesday Podcast looked back at the loss to the Bears as we broke down the Panthers’ breakdown. We also preview the upcoming game against the Buccaneers.
Earlier this week the Panthers once again signed wide receiver Kaelin Clay. The Panthers originally sent Clay to Buffalo in exchange for cornerback Kevon Seymour. The Panthers now have Clay back after claiming them off of the Buffalo waiver wire. Safety Demetrious Cox was placed on injured reserve to make room.
Also on Tuesday the Panthers signed kicker Roberto Aguayo to the practice squad as insurance against Graham Gano’s recent issue with knee aggravation. Aguayo was originally drafted in the second round by Tampa Bay in 2016 and has not fared well in the league but he is looking for a fresh start in Carolina.
Graham Gano was a no-show at practice on Friday but his absence is not related to his sore knee from last week but rather from a nasty bout of the flu.
Trai Turner, who injured his knee in Chicago also resumed full practice.
Kurt Coleman fully practiced this week. Coleman has been nursing a sprained MCL sustained in the matchup against New England. Coach Rivera expects Coleman to start on Sunday though he is listed as questionable. Also questionable: Graham Gano, Ed Dickson with an ankle injury and fullback Alex Armah with a hamstring.
Ryan Kalil did not practice Friday as his neck injury has resurfaced. Kalil is listed as out for Sunday as are running back Fozzy Whittaker and offensive tackle John Theus. Ron Rivera remarked that putting Kalil on injured reserve has not been considered.
Happy 24th Birthday, Panthers! This Thursday marked the 24th anniversary of the team’s founding in 1993.
On November 5th the Panthers will host the Atlanta Falcons. This will also be what we at the Roaring Riot are calling our “homecoming game” where Panthers fans from all chapters inside and outside the Carolinas will come together for an incredible weekend of events and – we hope – a Panthers win!
We are excited to partner with WFNZ in Charlotte and will be partying the Saturday night before at the WFNZ Dog House at the corner of Mint and Morehead streets just behind the stadium! Roaring Riot members can purchase tickets for just $28.03 which includes a special Homecoming t-shirt.
