This episode is the first of two dealing with the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. In this first part, we deal with the events leading up to the assassination, including FBI surveillance and harrassment of Dr. King. Included in this episode is Dr. King’s “Beyond Vietnam” speech, in its entirety, recorded on April 4, 1967 (one year to the day before he was murdered).

Part 2 of our interview with Dick J. Reavis, Journalism Professor at NC State and one of the leading experts on the Waco tragedy. His book, The Ashes of Waco, was one of the first works to point out many of the problems with the raid, seige, and fire at the the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, TX, in the spring of 1993. Part 2 features the story of the seige, the fire, and many of the congressional hearings that have investigated the tragedy.
