CJ Johnson has passed away

For those long time listeners CJ provided the substance of his Minnesota Outdoors report each week. He had a network of contacts and he wrapped up his report with quip and funny story. 

It doesn't matter exactly when CJ began joining me but suffice it to say he's felt like a friend since the beginning. His roots in Lisbon and his career covering the outdoors across Minnesota were a rare hybrid of  style and substance. 

He had family in Fargo and in his trips from the Twin Cities back here we'd catch up for a cup of coffee and slice of pie. 

CJ was always generous with his time and I appreciated his friendship and mentor-ship.

Over the past three years his battle with cancer never defined him. He knew many others battled similar life/health challenges and the outdoors was part of the healing and recovery to them so he only offered an occasional update on the air, but was always appreciative of the prayers our listeners provided. 

Here's a tribute to CJ and also a little montage of a few stories which were part of the brand of CJ Johnson. Rest In Peace
