Do we miss the point of the story by calling it Doubting Thomas? Jesus gave Thomas exactly what he required in order to believe. Maybe we should call it Evidence-Rich Jesus.

Philippians 2:1-11 contains one of the most beautiful hymns ever written. Many scholars think it was something that Paul was quoting, rather than creating. In it we see the incredible humility and exaltation of Christ. The passage opens with a declaration of the benefits we receive in Christ, it then follows with instructions for us to live by and concludes with the hymn, detailing how Jesus has set the ultimate example in humility.

Stepping through Philippians 1:12-19, and using the modern day example of Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh, Shane challenges us to proclaim the gospel. We see Paul, Maryam and Marziyeh all strategising to proclaim the gospel. Their strategies result in gospel fruit, but also personal suffering, which leads to more gospel proclamation.15/02/2026
