In this episode, Winnie shares more of her powerful testimony. Winnie talks about being able to trust her children to her abusive mother, her half-siblings being kidnapped, and her struggles with alcohol and meth addiction. But through it all, Jesus was calling her back, and in 2014, she rededicated her life to Christ, committing to serve Him no matter what.

Winnie also reflects on God's provision during tough times and her journey out of debt with the help of Christians Against Poverty (CAP). We end the episode discussing the concept of taking thoughts captive to Christ, Winnie answers a listener's question and shares how she’s living her faith outside of Sunday. It's an inspiring and hope-filled conclusion to Winnie's heart-wrenching testimony of abuse and poverty - you don't want to miss this!

In this episode, we dive into the incredible story of Winnie McClutchie, who bravely shares her journey from a traumatic childhood steeped in abuse to finding hope in Christ. Starting with her tormented upbringing, Winnie opens up about the generational abuse she endured and her early *negative* exposure to Christianity. Angry at God, Winnie became an atheist and had her first attempted s*icide at just eight years old. Neglect and poverty later led to Winnie falling into criminal activity, including fraud and identity theft.

However, Winnie’s story doesn’t stop there. Later in life, through the work of the Lord, she was able to forgive her abusive mother. Winnie's journey is a powerful testament to the transformative and redemptive work of the Holy Spirit.

In this episode, Sarah shares with us the next chapter of her incredible journey. We pick things up with the moment she turned away from the 'Universe', asking the one true God to heal her from endometriosis. Sarah experienced miraculous healing and deliverance one evening at Youth Group all at the same time as committing her life to Christ. Sarah shares about how she received the gift of tongues from the Holy Spirit and how her life changed dramatically after embracing her faith in Jesus Christ. Sarah compares her past in the New Age with her newfound Christianity, and we geek out together about how amazing Jesus is!

Sarah also opens up about her family's reaction to her conversion and offers a message to anyone currently involved in the New Age or drugs. We discuss Christian celibacy, the joy of healing, and the sense of belonging that comes with joining the Christian faith. Finally, Sarah answers a listener question about marijuana and pain relief, and shares how she's living out her faith outside of Sunday.

In part 1 of our chat with Sarah, you will hear all about her journey into the New Age and the beginnings of her conversion to Christianity. Sarah shares how anxiety and panic attacks took over her life at an early age, leading her into New Age practices like crystals and meditation and becoming a Reiki 'healer'. Despite initially feeling a sense of relief and awakening, her spiritual path soon began to unravel.

Sarah opens up about hitting rock bottom with her mental health struggles, endometriosis and anorexia, and how the New Age practices stopped 'working'. Returning home to her Mum, Sarah grew curious about Christianity and ultimately realized that her New Age beliefs were filled with lies.

In this 'Insights' episode Julie and I (Christa)  reflect on the recent episode with Maria from Focus on the Family NZ, starting with a deeper look at the Bible verse, "Be still and know that I am God." We chat about how making space for quiet time deepens our connection and relationship with God.
