California has an awesome, well developed cannabis market with nuances and diversity of choice that rivals the craft beer industry in some parts of the state. This has been made possible through legalization and regulation of a large sector of the cannabis market. The same cannot be said nationwide, where different states have differing levels of legalization and permissiveness of cannabis. Today on Outsmoken we're discussing the difficulties of brandbuilding in states like Texas and others, as well as looking as people in the past who managed to do it without restriction!

The terms Indica and Sativa are two of the most recognizable vocabulary words to anyone within the cannabis community. We often consider indica plants the heavy sedative strains, and the sativas the uplifting cerebral strains, but often times the flowers labelled for either category tend to violate expectation! Wsup Club! We're back with another episode! This time, we're joined by @DONTTAWKTOME as we discuss the current state of cannabis genetics. In today's industry, trying to pinpoint specific effects based on strain names and perceived genetic lineages is exceedingly difficult. We've already discussed brands vs strands and how to navigate the new strains, but today we're engaged with the what is best for the industry. Should we come up with a universal taxonomic system? Part of what drove us to start this platform in the first place was the rise of vaping technology and the ease associated with cannabis use now. Brands like Stiiizy, brass knuckles, Heavy Hitters, and Rove put the cannabis experience a mere button press away, changing the game for us and many others. In fact, oftentimes a new cannabis user’s first interaction with THC will be through a vape pen of some sort.

To be able to know, love, and understand individual strains now seems like an adventure too daunting to take on for the average person. It would take Encyclopedia Brown to be able to categorize these names based on effect, or genetics.  We discuss how the proliferation of different strains makes it more difficult to navigate through cultivars in a shop! Stronger weed is stronger weed, and I’ll let the lab tests do what they do. I used to hate the crapshoot that was picking up from my local dealer and not knowing the quality or potency of what I was purchasing. He’d often say “nah man, this isn’t the last batch of fire that I had, this is something a lil different,  but this one is bomb, trust”. And it wasn’t bomb, but I was stuck with it.

Cannabis flower is often grouped and sold by the methodology used to cultivate it: Indoor or Outdoor. And while the perception seems to be that outdoor flower is inferior, I wanted to talk about both methodologies, discuss what I know about both, and come to my own conclusions.
