In today's episode, we have as our guest attorney Rick Dyer. He is Dawn's favorite mentoring story of all time because he had such an amazing journey that can inspire us all. Rick was a former heroine addict. He got out of jail, rebuilt his life, became a respected Boston attorney, and now helps others who have suffered from the same addiction. Rick's story stirs the imagination and shows how mentors can help those struggling from unhealthy addictions get connected with recovery coaches.
Listen in on this inspiring episode featuring Richard Dyer, Patti Austin, Dawn Carroll, Barry Orms, and Alex Tran.

Over My Shoulder Foundation
"Mentoring Helps Design the Next Generation"
#OMSMentoring
The Over My Shoulder Foundation is excited and very proud to introduce our brand new journal:
Live Gooder. The Over My Shoulder Journal of Instructions for a Good Life.
This journal contains a list of life instructions on everything from flossing your teeth to accepting cookies. And since this is 2020, we have also included instructions on putting on your pants before joining a video call. So if you or you know someone who tends to forget the basics, consider writing down notes using the prompts in this journal.
It is fun. It is not too serious. But it can have a serious impact on your life if you follow along.
The proceeds from this journal will go towards supporting mentoring those in need especially during these times.
Listen in and enjoy the favorite life instructions from Dawn, Barry, and Alex.
We will post the link to the journal here soon.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the Over My Shoulder YouTube channel and the Over My Shoulder website.
As a continuation of our celebrating The Cabot Theatre's upcoming 100th birthday, we will talk about some of the songs that Patti Austin performed there. Listen in as she shares her stories behind Bill Withers and "Lean on Me", “What the World Needs Now Is Love” by Hal David and Burt Bacharach, and "The Love Train" by the O'Jays. As a special treat, Dawn Carroll also gives us the background of the "Over My Shoulder" song, -- our podcast anthem. Fun stories, great laughs, great insights as always in this episode. Such is the power of music.

This has been a wild year in terms of climate and environmental debates. There have been many discussions on whether climate change is man made or not. Both sides seem to feel very strongly about their position. Yet the fact remains that we as humans need clean water, fresh air, and a sustainable food supply. The health of the planet is of more lasting importance to the next generation since their time here have only started. It is no wonder that some of the loudest voices come from young people like Greta Thunberg.
Join the OMS tribe of Dawn Carroll, Barry Orms, Elizabeth Penaranda, and Alex Tran in their discussion of when they first became aware of the environment. In order words, who were their mentors on the environment.
