In an exclusive interview for ESPN Andscape, I had the pleasure of interviewing the current tournament director of the prestigious Endeavor-owned Miami Open tennis tournament, former ATP world No.4 James Blake.
In this interview, the trailblazing Black-American tennis star showcased how excited he is to celebrate his 6th full year at the helm of directing the unofficial 5th Slam, as many still feel that the Miami Open is the biggest tournament in tennis outside of the Grand Slams.
We also discussed the 20 year anniversary of his first ATP Tour title in Washington D.C., his thoughts on Novak Djokovic passing Steffi Graf for most weeks as a world No.1, ATP or WTA rankings, his tribute on the recent passing of legendary tennis coach and IMG founder Nick Bollettieri and how proud he is to a trailblazer for the Black community nationally and globally with his roles in the sport. And for you Pickelball fans, we talk about one of the additional things making him happily busy in his post-playing career, being an owner of the Major League Pickelball's Milwaukee Mashers.
