Juli Geske-Peer relates in this second episode how she overcame a dysfunctional family relationship in which she felt inadequate with low self-confidence. It is through the value of encouragement from relationships that she "energized" her innate but latent determination trait. While she is on a continuous journey to overcome some reminiscent events that evoke thoughts of the past, she is now helping others perform at their potential. She chronicles lessons learned in her book, "5 Senses for Success: Strategies to Thrive in Any Arena."
Tricia Roos addresses how she confronts her women's volleyball team to achieve higher performance standards. Confronting others can be intimidating and, for some, a reason to accept lower standards. Tricia adheres to having to reasoned "why" that a performance standard is needed. She explains some of her life story and personal standards in her book, "When Wishes Change." We encourage everyone to read her story. Tricia is an example of leading by her example.
Eric Coon, Financial Planner, explains how to overcome habits of near-term thinking to transition to long-term thinking for financial success. Statistics show too many people are not planning for long-term fiscal choices. That is, not enough people are saving for emergencies and retirement. This is a result of being fiscally out of balance. A budget listing all fixed and variable expenses along with long-term savings while living on approximately 70% of your income is one model to help overcome short-term planning.
Danny: Can you, or can you recommend someone, who can remove the hollow sound of this recording. I recorded this session with four people and one microphone using Audacity to record. I passed the single microphone around to try to improve sound quality.
Pastor Jamal and Sabrina Hyman chronicle their life together to overcome all of life's adversities. Sabrina married Pastor Jamal in a state of needing encouragement from a combination of job failings, double open-heart surgery, an absentee father, and deaths in the family. By some measures, Pastor Jamal has experienced more life adversities in his young life than most people experience in a lifetime. However, their marriage is a model of working together.
Matthew Karchner chronicles his life of being raised in a Christian family. However, there was a period of his earlier life that he did not feel as masculine nor adequate as his male counterparts. That resulted in him withdrawing from others and "exploring" avenues of feeling better about himself. Through a brief exploration period, he entered into the gay lifestyle that included drinking that provided a "counterfeit freedom." Through a series of events, the reality of his devious life culminated in a letter of admission that started his journey to recovery.
Alex Brueckmann chronicles his family move from Germany to Canada during a period of COVID, which introduced many vagaries. Complicating this series of events was his son's birth and his father's passing away. Because of COVID and the inherent global uncertainties that engendered, he was uncertain even as he boarded the aircraft to depart Germany if the passport and visa requirements might change to interrupt his move. He describes his mental preparation, a legacy his father left for him and others to overcome these "mountains." Visit his website at www.alexthestrategist.com.
Kareemah Emordi returns for a fifth episode to discuss marketplace ministry. Some people think of marketing as strictly a business term that has no place in the church. People frequently want what we have or who we are. However, if we think of marketing as simply telling others about what we have that they might want, we are merely passing on a recommendation or referral. Do people want what you have in Jesus because of what they see or your recommendation/referral?
Jerry Fu chronicles his professional work life that includes making several pivots. Those pivots resulted in him viewing everything as an opportunity.
