We can become so consumed with pleasing the people around us that our main function in life becomes to meet the needs and expectations of others. And while this initially seems like a selfless way to live, it is actually often a self-centered way to live. We crave the approval and acceptance of others so much that we will sacrifice anything and everything to get it. People pleasing can easily become an idol. So, how do we recognize when serving others has become our god? And how can we recenter our lives on God instead of the opinions of others?
