  • Holden Trailblazer 2017: It’s big and roomy, practical but a bit truck like
As large SUVs go the Holden TrailBlazer is what it is.
With seven seats and good room it is excellent family fare.
Diesel engine with plenty of torque makes for good touring with a great range and respectable fuel economy.
Our test car came in bright red colouring that clearly stood out.
The vehicle sits on the same platform and the Colorado ute and still feels a bit truck like.
Errol Smith and David Brown go through the details of what’s good and what’s not so good.

  • Kia Rondo 2017 – No longer nerdy; not the latest technology but still practical
Nine uears ago Kia launched the Rondo onto the market. It was a small people mover that had seven seats although the third row was very cramped. It was a nerdy looking car. It looked a bit like a Daewoo when they were in decline. It was like a pair of school shoes that were selected by a P&C subcommittee who thought that Doc Marin was only a television show.
The new model is much better looking.
It does not have the latest technology such as lane departure warning or blind spot identificationnor does it have voice actuated controls. But it is a smooth car that is easy to drive.
You can now get it in five or seven seat configurations.
Alan Zurvas and David Brown took it for a drive in the city environment where it is best suited.

  • Holden Trax 2017 – Manly a trubo engine – good features for a little car – but they come at a price
In 2013 Holden started selling a small SUV, the Trax, on the Australian market. This vehicle is sold as a Chevrolet in other parts of the world. In 2014, Holden added a 1.4 litre turbo charged engine to some models. Now that engine is on all the automatic versions and the 1.8 litre normally aspirated four cylinder is only available on the entry level which has a manual gear box.
The 1.8 and the 1.4 turbo have the same power output but the turbo gets it at lower revs and has more torque.
Most of the sales will be the turbo motor, with has a six speed automatic and with fuel consumption rated at 6.7 Litres per 100.
The Trax range has been widened to include new mid-variant LT model.
    All models have:
    • Rear Park Assist and Rear View Camera
    • Cruise control
    • Apple CarPlay / Android Auto phone projection technology
The middle range LT gets some more stuff including:
    • Sunroof
    • 18 inch wheels
    • Digital radio
The top of the range adds features including:
    • leather seats
    • Heated front seats
    • Rain sensing wipers
    • Side Blind Zone Alert
    • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
We took the top of the range model for a drive.

  • Reborn Jaguar E-Types – Getting the factory to rebuild your E-Type to (better) than original
As a wee young fellow, I remember the E-Type Jaguar when it was still being sold right up to 1975.
Of course it has had a lasting impact on the world of style and fashion.
The Museum of Modern Art acquired one in 1996. The press release in April 1996 said
Although the car was introduced more than thirty years ago and production ceased in 1974, the sleek, bullet-like shape of the Jaguar E-type continues to be one of the most influential and imitated styling forms in sports car design.
...It was conceived by Jaguar to be the synthesis of a competition racer and an everyday-use car.
How does a car company keep the image alive?
When Ford owned Jaguar, they tried to revive the nostalgia for the classic Mark II when they released the S type in 1999. It was instantly recognised as a Jaguar but only last ten years mainly because it felt like a Ford.
The latest Jaguar F-Type sports car that we have test with great delight has some wonderful cues to the E-Type.
But there is another way to ensure that the classic E-type maintains its presence in the culture of today and into the future. Get the factory to rebuild old ones with loving care.
This is what Jaguar has done.
James Scrimshaw is the Manager of Product – Public Affairs for Jaguar Land Rover Australia and he joins us on the line.
