WE WANT OUR MOLECULES BACK! Hey there, Overdue Rentals members, we are joined today by 95 KGGO's Adam Bowersox to talk about the 1992 John Carpenter helmed, Chevy Chase and Daryl Hannah starring; Memoirs of an Invisible man. Join us as we discuss the quintessential 2 star movie that never took off.
It's election season! The voter turn outs are starting to roll in, so let's talk about Primary Colors! The Awards Radar's Joey Magidson joined us to talk about the film based on a book, which was based on the fictionalized events of the Bill Clinton presidential primary races. Now, we record this back at the end of August though, so some small items we say, are already a little dated!
This episode was recorded on Oct. 15th, when the IATSE strike was possibly still happening. Even though the strike has been averted, legendary cinematographer Paul Cameron's insights on the business are fascinating and still important. We talked shop a little bit before getting into the his recent work on Reminiscence and the Overdue Rental choice for this episode, Collateral.
Our dear friend Perri Nemiroff, host of Collider's Ladies Night is helping us kick off our October run of episodes by talking about the instant Halloween classic; Michael Dougherty's, Trick r' Treat. Join us as we talk all about Sam until we derail and end up talking about everything from Fear Street to The Power Rangers. Happy October everyone!
It is time to buckle up! Joining us this week is Tim Blake Nelson who absolutely kills it in his new film, Old Henry, which is out in theaters Friday Oct. 8th. But, we're also here to talk about the controversial, shocking, and diverse Gaspar Noe film, Irreversible. If you're unaware of what happens in Irreversible, here is your trigger warning for talk about violence and sexual assault.
Part 2 of our Lady of the Manor coverage is here. Brothers, Co-writers, and Co-directors Christian and Justin Long are here and we have a lot to talk about. There was a lot of films that inspired the brothers in creating their debut feature length comedy, but one film stands above them all, the 1991 Bill Murray/Richard Dreyfuss comedy, What About Bob? This was one lovely conversation that could have went on for hours and hours.
The hits just keep on coming. This week we were lucky enough to have the amazing Melanie Lynskey in the store to talk about her new film, Lady of the Manor and the 2011 Tom McCarthy written and directed, Win Win. Since we had Melanie on hand, we of course couldn't help but ask a few questions about Heavenly Creatures, but since we already have a full episode about the film...we kept it short.
We unfortunately had a a few tech issues at the start of the interview, but it all worked out in the end.
The man, the myth, the legend, Richard E. Grant is with us to discuss his new film, Everybody's Talking About Jamie--which premiered on Amazon Prime, Friday, September 17th. Also on tap, is this week's overdue rental-- Warlock, which Richard starred in across from Julian Sands in the late 80s/early 90s. And yes, don't worry, there is plenty of Classic Loki talk to be had. Listen in for a great discussion with a true master of the art of acting.
Note: Thank you to our friend Joey Magidson for helping with this week's thumbnail. The video portion of this interview was corrupted, so we needed to grab the image from his talk with Mr. Grant. You can see that talk over at Awardsradar.com.
