Synopsis: 1 Peter 2:18-21 instructs servants to be subject to their masters. They were to live in the pattern of Christ by accepting suffering. But their suffering was not passive acceptance. It was an active demonstration of God's grace by offering the world the greatness gift of salvation though they were considered the lowest class in society.

Synopsis: The narrative of conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch is an archetypal conversion.  It illustrates what one must do to saved, how God works to save the lost, and how Christians respond to God’s command to reach the lost. In this narrative every person’s need for God and how we respond to this need through the gospel.

Synopsis: God's grace teaches us to look to Christ the Savior. In looking to Christ, we see the Savior who was pierced and suffered yet remained faithful to God's will. His example, a pattern foretold in the Old Testament, gives us a guide to trust God's faithfulness and submit to God in obedience.

Synopsis: In Luke 7:11-17, the bible records a scene that shows how Jesus deals with the tragedy of death. The scene represents what it means for God to live among us as the Son of Man. Jesus sees our true condition, feels compassion, and offers hope so we can live confidently.

Synopsis: Sin in an unrighteous action that creates an unrighteous condition. Yet Justification is God’s righteous action that transforms our unrighteous condition. God has saved to demonstrate His righteousness. The saved show that God is righteous by living according to his will and share if the message of salvation.

The gospel reveals God’s righteousness through Christ. As the exact image of God, Christ displays God’s nature and reveals how God wants us to live. While sin brings out the worst in us, the gospel brings out the best in us — God’s image restored.

Synopsis: Scripture Teaches that a little leaven leaven’s the whole lump. Habits and practices are developed in the context of the communities with which we associate. Therefore, our abilities to discern God’s will is shaped by the groups with which we identify.

Synopsis: True transformation involves a change of actions. In Romans 12:1-2, Paul appeals to the church to live in a manner such that their entire lives are subject to God’s will. He shows that when our actions are subject to God’s will, we position ourselves to choose what is right in a given situation.

Synopsis: God’s revelation does not guarantee that we have accurate interpretation. God allowed Joseph to have the gift of interpreting dreams so that God’s people could be preserved and have hope in God’s promise while they endured Egyptian. Similarly, God has revealed His word today. However, we must always consider what is guiding our understanding of God’s revealed message as we seek to obey His will.

Synopsis: The Holy Spirit was promised to God's people as God's divine means of restoration. The day of Pentecost represents the beginning of this fulfillment in which the Spirit was given as the means of salvation, sanctification, and guidance in Christian living. As such we must be attentive to the activity of the Holy Spirit in our present lives.  This lesson explores how the Holy Spirit guides us by aiding in our interpretation of Scripture, spiritual formation, and fellowship with other believers.
