Michele Dyer, Director of PLACE Ministries, shares how PLACE was created to help people better understand and identify their God-given purpose.

Jesus teaches us how to deal with our friends in telling the gospel story, with things like: He just walks with them, He participtes in their lives, He finds out what’s going on and He listens to them. We’re going to talk about the importance of learning to listen to your friends and how hard real listening is.

Because He first loved us, He tells us you can go love the people around you, after all the great commandments: Love God with everything you have, Love yourself, and Love your neighbor. The way you do that is by knowing your neighbor’s story.

As husbands the first move is ours, always ours. It’s not waiting for, if she loved me she would do this, if she loved me she would know, but it’s the ability to take responsibility in taking the first step and that comes out of the overflow of your relationship with Jesus Christ.

When you’re facing an issue, most of the time there’s going to be something in our past that will resemble the moment you’re going through now. How did God show Himself in that moment in the past, how did He show up, how did He act, what did I learn from it, can I now apply those same lessons to what I’m learning now?—Most of the time you can.

Jesus is reconciling the world to himself—that is, he’s making the world add up again. So where is it that the Father is working to make it add up, where is it that your talents and gifts can be used to make it add up; and where is the nearest person and the closest opportunity around you, right now where the world isn’t adding up?

When we talk about love what we’re talking about is the outpouring of agape—the best love that always seeks the best for the beloved. That’s how Christ loves us, that’s how Christ calls us to love each other, and that’s how he calls us to love ourselves, and how he calls us to love the broken world around us.

I am not a perfect church pastor, or a perfect husband or a perfect man. I make all the same mistakes you do, but here is why I live my life for Christ every day. Hear me out, and just listen to what He has done in my life.

The decisions we make in a year are a result of the small decisions we make every day. If you want this year to be a different one, you need to live each day differently than you have before.
