On The Mindful Journey, host Sana gets real about the woman who is holding everything together. Kids, jobs, no backup, constant pressure, zero margin. Guest Kristen Crabtree, author of Be The You, That’s More You Than You Have Ever Been and creator of Paramore Paradox, breaks down what self-care looks like when life is already maxed out. Not the aesthetic version. The survival version.
Kristen Crabtree helps people who have spent years being dependable and invisible reconnect with who they really are. Her work blends science, philosophy, and metaphysics in plain language and focuses on awareness-first tools that fit real life. She also built Paramour Paradox, a self-recovery ecosystem designed to support truth-seeking with practical resources.
Self-discovery does not require retreats or long journaling sessions. Most identity recovery happens in small gaps during everyday life.
Redefine self-care as survival. If you wait for “free time” you will never start.
Practice awareness in routine moments. Eat one meal with full attention or take one intentional breath before walking into work.
Use a grounding question. “What do I need right now that won’t cost time I don’t have?”
Stop chasing a “new you.” The goal is reconnecting with the part of you that already exists under burnout and caretaking.
Try “third-person narration” for 2 to 3 minutes while doing chores. It creates distance from stress and reconnects you to consciousness.
Make it a family-friendly game. The “Detective” exercise helps kids explore who you are through clues around the home and routines.
Build boundaries that are tiny but consistent. Even 5 minutes of quiet practice with kids nearby can shift the entire household tone.
Learn the difference between true self and inner critic. True self is encouraging and never cruel. If the voice is harsh it’s conditioned noise.
One small change creates ripple effects. A calmer nervous system changes how you parent, work, and show up in community.
