Welcome back! Today I am thrilled to introduce you to The Own Your Voice Academy team; the OYV Academy is an online education space offering workshops, masterclasses, and intensives for today's musicians, designed by Industry VIPs + Professional Educators!

Regan Farney is a singer/songwriter, violinist, and one of the incredible OYV educators I'm excited to have you meet. I can't wait to share her musical insight, songwriting tips, and infectiously joyful personality with all of you! Join us as we get to know her a bit better, and prepare for her upcoming November workshop through the online academy!

“There’s always this question when people begin songwriting of “do I start with the lyrics or the music?” and the truth is...I still don’t know! Some people prefer one over the other, but for me personally, it just depends on the day. You may find a preference when you begin writing more music, but for now, let me help you start with creating captivating lyrics!”

  • From Lion King To London Recording Artist - with Khaya Maseko

    Welcome to Own Your Voice!

On today's episode, I had the opportunity to interview Khaya Maseko, an incredible European actor and entertainer! He first made his mark in the musical theater world, which began at the South African National Children’s Theatre. After winning a Naledi Award for Best Newcomer, he joined Disney’s "The Lion King" as cover Simba and part of the ensemble, which took him to Hong Kong, Switzerland and across the UK!

In late 2016, he made the decision to pivot his music career and focus on his journey as a solo artist - a decision he made after starting a job as a singer and pianist at the Piano Works in Farringdon. Soon after, he began work on his first EP entitled “Better Late Than Never”.

Khaya is also a part time composer and has composed dance pieces for Hong Kong's Fringe festival and The Place’s “Resolution” Dance festival.
