All star cast from 4 different cosmic corners comes the more electronic side of hamam. think of it as the dorian gray of frankfurt airport , but instead its at the hamam in istanbul.
fattish - no stranger to electronic versions of loved and cherished turkish songs, fattish delivers a monster cinematic peace, strings section .. the whole lot... check anything he puts his hands on.. this one made it to the wax
kozmonotosman - our man on the moon, he visits regularly so if u need any rocks or bits ask him he will bring u, i got loads of rock so u can ask me alternatively. my man delivers a super dope and groovy number from a not so well known jam from the 70s . just get down and boogie on this.
kurt adam - one of the new faves of the hamam camp, delivers a taverna cut in a housey affair. don't be fooled by the electronics, i drink raki to this any day at the drinkery. hold me down if u can m gonna dance in euphoria. hear the wolfman roarrr.
tokyo matt - thats right its not all turkish. tokyo matt super selector, king digger, man who will turn u on to new genres, king of the erection section , slow jams .. delivers this floaty number that will make you dream till you cream .. to my ear some middle eastern vibes there but some say its just eastern. dope it is without a doubt.

    A1 A New Beginning
    A2 Approaching Lights
    B1 Burning Up
    B2 Broken Samba
Music Of Color proudly presents its first offering from none other than the breakthrough artist Duke Hugh. The Approaching Lights EP compiles four undeniable offerings, each standing on its own, and provides another glimpse into to the mind of the eclectic and versatile dutch producer.
On the intimate opener „A New Beginning“ Duke Hugh opens up a dreamy state. With singing strings it's hauntology at its core. Following this emotional ambient treasure, title track „Approaching Lights“ goes in with a steady 4/4 groove before decomposing through lush chords into a bassline monster that begs for attention in the dark hours.
Brightening up the b-side, „Burning Up“ is prime time material with sticky keys, sharp hi-hats and playful basslines. But it’s the final head-nod heater „Broken Samba“ which makes this EP such an undeniable no-brainer. Led by latin percussion and stumbling drums it sounds like Duke Hugh pays homage to Broken Beat maestros without ever loosing his own sound signature. Rhodes, synth-sweeps and guitar sprinkles make the ingredients for a funk opus that leaves you with a smile while leaving the night behind.
    Can you see the light?

About OYE BERLIN

From the publisher's feed
