Retirement downsizing specialist Realtor Ian Thompson, (21 year veteran), Hall of Famer REMAX /Nanaimo.

Vancouver Island has also seen a sharp decline in sales, decline in condo prices. Add to that Bank appraisers come in short of written deals.

Ian says that $350,000 condo in an older building is possible, there is that worry about special assessments.

Lare new rental purpose built complexes keep rents low and Investors have literally left the market.

BUT it means well priced property under $850,000 actually attract multiple offers, whereas over $1 million or so ... not.

He is still positive about Nanaimo and the whole Island - people want to live and retire here ... as far aways as from California.
