To mark the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Arkansas one year ago, Gov. Asa Hutchinson spoke at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff on Thursday, which is where the first known case of the virus in the state was diagnosed. The patient admitted last March, James Black, was also at the commemoration ceremony. Hutchinson thanked Arkansas healthcare workers for the work they've had to put in the last 365 days and compared the last year to the emergency and mourning the country

After 10 hours of executive session on March 4, the Fayetteville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to terminate the employment of Executive Director Angela Belford, who was hired to run the agency in March 2019. The board had originally suspended Belford on Feb. 25 to investigate complaints made by public housing residents, as well as former and current staff members.

Last month, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs welcomed a new resident. His name is Rambo the spotted hyena and he was rescued from southern Arkansas after the person who owned him suddenly passed away. Animal Curator Emily McCormack says Rambo is settling in well with the tigers and lions that are now his new neighbors. You can see photos and videos of Rambo here .

A group of longtime Fayetteville residents with roots in the area that go back decades is concerned there could be an unmarked cemetery beneath a development that's under construction in the city's industrial park. The 1.6 acres of land is located between Combs Cemetery and the Leeper family cemetery, which are both protected burial grounds. Representatives for the city say there is no visible evidence of a cemetery and the exclusions included in deeds going back to the mid-1800s are
