On today's edition of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal Report, Roby Brock speaks with Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin about his decision to run for Arkansas attorney general instead of the governorship. Griffin made the announcement earlier this month after Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she'd be joining the race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, which also includes current Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson devoted the first few minutes of his weekly coronavirus response briefing to the pair of winter storms hammering the state this week. He said the snow, wind and record-setting lows are combining to create the most severe weather situation he's seen in the state in his lifetime. As a result of the weather emergency, Hutchinson extended the National Guard's deployment through Friday in the event Arkansans need assistance. OMNI Center for Peace, Justice & Ecology activists are asking the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to end a nuclear weapons research and development collaboration with Honeywell International. The U of A is among 50 universities involved in such partnerships, according to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), a coalition of non-governmental organizations promoting adherence to and implementation of the United Nations nuclear weapon ban treaty.

The Gravette Public Library has brought back its popular Blind Date With a Book program for the month of February. The annual event introduces patrons to new authors and genres by concealing the book's cover.

Thursday night, historian, author and artist, Nell Irvin Painter, will participate in a discussion hosted by the Central Arkansas Library System. The Fayetteville City Council has approved new regulations for electric vehicle charging stations on private property. The standards require publicly available car chargers to be a level 2 charger, have a minimum 30 amps on a 240-volt circuit and be connected to a network that allows users to find them on a cellphone. The city's environmental director says the regulations will help the city establish LEED accreditation.
