Thousands of Americans receive organ transplants each year while tens of thousands of others are on a waiting list for one. We speak with Jim Gleason , who is an advocate for transplants, about how his life changed 26 years ago.

Feral swine, a non-native invasive species, destroy farms, property and disrupt native wildlife. Documented in all 75 Arkansas counties, feral swine are most active this fall in Carroll County, which is why an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission wildlife biologist is on call to assist property owners with trapping and killing the wild hogs. The local USDA Natural Resources Conservation District office is also purchasing traps in bulk to distribute to property owners.

Lloyd Lionel Gaines was born in Mississippi in 1911, but his family later moved to St. Louis, Mo.. He graduated with a degree in history from Lincoln University in 1935 and considered law school, but school segregation limited his options. He sought legal counsel from the NAACP to apply to the University of Missouri Law School. The resulting Supreme Court case, Gaines v. Canada, found that the school denied Gaines' 14th Amendment Rights when they refused him admittance to the school. This is his

About seven miles of new soft-surface trails have opened at Fayetteville's Millsap Mountain while the rest of the development of Centennial Park continues. The trails can be used by hikers and trail runners, but they are specifically optimized for mountain bikes. The open portions of the park include both beginner and intermediate trails.

A federal Health Resources and Services Administration grant award is enabling the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Northwest to develop a rural training track for medical school residents. Family physician Ronald Brimberry, M.D., an associate professor at UAMS-NW’s Family Medicine Residency Program, will direct the training track.

A judge ruled Thursday the deadline to complete the 2020 Census is being extended from Sept. 30 to Oct. 31. The Justice Department filed an appeal Friday. As the issue works its way through the courts, Arkansas Counts is encouraging Arkansans to complete the survey by Sept. 30.
