The Fort Smith Little Theater is ready for the 2020 season and Becca Martin-Brown, the features editor for the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette , gives us a preview.

A series of three legislative forums for candidates seeking the GOP nomination for the Arkansas House takes place this week. The forums are Tuesday, Feb. 11 , and Thursday, Feb. 13 , at the Peterson Auditorium at the Shewmaker Center for Global Business Development on the Northwest Arkansas Community College campus. The forums begin at 6 p.m. both evenings.

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court lifted preliminary injunctions that had blocked Trump administration changes to the so-called public charge rule. In August, the administration announced it would allow officials to deny green cards to immigrants who are likely to need public assistance. Mireya Reith, the executive director of Arkansas United , discusses how the rule change might impact local immigrant communities.

Hank Willis Thomas: All Things Being Equal is the first comprehensive survey of the conceptual artist’s career. The exhibition spans 20 years of his work and features more than 90 artworks, which are on display at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art from Feb. 8 to April 20.

The band Sycamore , which includes Guy Ames, Bruce Allen, Jim Nicholson and Kirk Lanier, plays songs about the planet's future, but they love a good love song, too. They recently performed for us at the Carver Center for Public Radio and will be at Black Apple Crossing in Springdale on Friday, Feb. 14.

An exhibit at the Rogers Experimental House will include the work of local and regional artists that considers the black experience in America. Inspired by the 1619 Project from Nikole Hannah-Jones with the New York Times , Reflections of the Black Experience opens Thursday, Feb. 13, as part of the monthly Art on the Bricks Art Walk. An artists' talk back event takes place Saturday, Feb. 29, at 11 a.m.

For more than a century, libraries have collected fines on overdue items. A 2017 study from the Library Journal found that 92 percent of libraries in the U.S. enforced late fees, but that money only accounted for one percent or less of their overall budgets. As of last month, the Eastern Oklahoma Library System voted to eliminate their fines for all library items to make libraries more accessible and inclusive for all Oklahomans.
