Telehealth technologies have the potential to improve oral health in Arkansas. Teledentistry, which involves remote examination, diagnosis and treatment, is now widely used by orthodontists across the state, but it is not yet used by most Arkansas dentists. This report is part of a year-long statewide series on oral health produced by APM and supported by Delta Dental of Arkansas.

When it became clear one of her students did not have the hygiene products she needed at home, Northside High School math teacher Paige Turney jumped into action. She created a Needs Closet where students can get everything from toothpaste to shampoo to laundry detergent to tampons and pads.

The interdisciplinary project is based at the University of Arkansas and will be in Monticello on Nov. 14-15.
