Tuesday morning, the long-planned U.S. Marshals Museum began to rise from the ground in Fort Smith. Construction crews began to install the first steel columns of the structure, which is expected to be complete in fall 2019.

In mid November, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality ordered C&H Hog Farms to cease operations, citing potential pollution of the Buffalo River watershed. The farm has been opposed by the Buffalo River Watershed Alliance since it opened six miles upstream of the Buffalo River along Big Creek. Despite the order by ADEQ, the Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation is supporting the farm's operators in their legal push to exert their "rights to farm."

Be Well Arkansas is an expansion of the Arkansas Department of Health's tobacco cessation services to provide Arkansans with resources to improve their health. The initiative includes a call center where Arkansans can speak with wellness counselors about diabetes and blood pressure control. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Arkansas is one of nine states that does not provide a live video stream of floor proceedings in the Senate. That will change when the General Assembly convenes in January. The city of Fayetteville will soon fill 72 percent of its operational electricity needs with clean energy. Just before Thanksgiving, the city council approved an agreement with Ozarks Electric Cooperative and Today's Power Inc. to install solar arrays at the city's two wastewater treatment plants. The project will move the city closer to its goal of operating on 100 percent clean energy by 2030.
