The Fayetteville grocery store long known as Marvin's IGA is closing. At 2 p.m. Sunday there will be a farewell party in the parking lot at Lafayette Street and College Avenue. Chris Selby, an organizer of the event, says there will be music, comedy and a handshake contest.

A study led by University of Arkansas Associate Professor of Psychology Ana Bridges was recently published in the journal Violence Against Women . Bridges interviewed local Hispanic and non-Hispanic white women who sought help at the Peace at Home Family Shelter to see whether there were any differences in the reasons they stayed in abusive relationships and the strategies they used to leave them. She says some of the results surprised her.
